Sermon on faith. Faith - your notarial deed.(Sermons on Faith)
What is it? How does it function? How to use it? There are many questions we ask ourselves about faith and we will try to answer them today. Issue of faith is so vital for our life that every Christian should have a deep understanding of that subject. As you remember from our teaching about faith and fear we can join God only in faith and through faith. There is no other way, no short-cut! Everything, whatever you are looking for, starting from the basic every day needs to the great spiritual achievements, all of it we can have only by faith.
Heb.10.38 “Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.”
We need many things to live. All those things we can have by faith and to be honest we can not have them in any other way. You may think that it is not true because you have let say a house but you didn’t even think about faith. Maybe you didn’t think about faith but you had a faith that since bank gave you a mortgage you can buy a house. You have a faith that because you have 20.000 on your bank account you can buy a new car. This is what I would call natural faith. Everybody is using natural faith not knowing about it! You have a faith that you can buy a bread because you know that you have 10$ in a pocket.
But what is faith from biblical perspective? Let’s look to Hebrews in order to answer this question.
Heb10.11 „Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Of course as we always do, we analyse that scripture referring it to an original meaning of each word (basing on Strong’s Greek-Hebrew dictionary). The original reading of the verse above is something like this:
“And now the faith is [a substance- matter, a foundation-base, a conviction- assurance, a person] [things we hope for (which me want to have), of what we waiting for] [an evidence, a conviction] [of things, matters, deeds, achievements, a property act], which are not visible.”
Considering the meaning of each word we can gain the wider view and understanding of faith.
Faith is a substance what means a material (constructive element), of which the things are made (created). Whatever exists in the real world was built of faith. In further part of our teaching we will see that the world itself was created by world through faith. If you want to have a car for instance (and you do not have money to buy it), it must first come into being inside you and has to be built of the substance called”faith”. Only then it can manifest itself in the physical world in the form of real thing.
The faith is also a conviction and assurance that we will have what we are expecting. If you are praying for a car and you do not have 100% conviction and assurance of having it you will not receive it. In other words you do not have a faith that you will receive it.
Remember that faith is not a hope (maybe…) that we will get something. Faith is an assurance that we already have what we are hoping for but can not see it yet. If you have faith you are sure that you have it. No doubts! The faith is a proof that those invisible yet things are yours. The proof that things you pray for are fixed and settled; deeds you started are already accomplished.
One more very strong meaning - faith is a document proving your ownership of things and matters. Your faith is this document. Do you understand? It is like a notarial deed of possessing a house! Like notarial deed proves that you are the owner of that house likewise faith proves that you own things you were praying for.
It is yours and if someone tries to take it from you, you have the power to protect it. And if you lose it you have the right (and the obligation) to demand its return. You have a full right to remove whatever stands on your way and claim the access to your property! If someone illegally occupies your house of which you have the deed, you have the right to forcefully remove this person from your property. In the spiritual world through prayer you take possession of things which are already yours by faith. That is the way to receive the notarial deed of those things. If the Devil tries to take something you have notarial act for, you have the power and authority to remove him. In the spiritual realm you are the police! And he was brought into a justice long time ago!
How do we receive or build (strengthen) our faith? Firstly as you remember from the first teaching we all have faith in ourselves as it was given to us by God:
(Rom 12:3) “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. “
Secondly we are believe basing on God` s power:
(Eph 1:19) “And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,”
And this way we can have (but often we do not have - our fault) an access to such a faith as is in God - to God’s measure of faith!
(KJV) And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. (DRB) And Jesus answering, saith to them: Have the faith of God. (LITV) And answering, Jesus said to them, Have faith of God.
In some translations last part of the above verse says “have faith of God”!!! What in short means to have the same faith as God has (obvious is that we can)!
So how can we reach to such a level of faith as is in God? Recipe is pretty simple:
(Rom10.17)”So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. “
It starts with the Word of God! And as at the beginning of your way with God you had to hear the Word and believe it, in order to be saved:
(Rom10.14)”How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe”
The same is now - you need to hear the word in order to believe. So what gives our faith birth, what strengthens and shapes it is the Word. There is no other way. To make your faith stronger and to do impossible things you have to sink yourself into the Word of God! You have to study the Word, ponder on it (think about it), confess it and pray the Word.
It is necessary to do it every day and not just a few minutes but much longer. If you want to build your faith in some area of God’s Word you have to sacrifice everything and leave yourself maximum of your time to think about, proclaim and pray those scriptures. Do it at your breakfast, dinner and supper; on your way to and from work, even in your bathroom. You have simply to find the time and the way to do it. You can even leave the CD with the Bible or with a teaching playing whole night. Do everything you can and even more for your future depends on it.
Let’s look now how the world was created:
(Joh1.1-3)”In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. “
So on the one hand every living thing was created by Word (God), but on the other hand the faith is a substance (a matter) of everything that exists. And of course the faith comes through The Word (because everything came through it). Yet another verse which will give us even more light on that subject:
(Heb 11:3) “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”
If you want to have “something not easy to have” those are steps for you to take:
The Word comes first. The word suitable for your need or situation. If you need for instance healing study word about healing and related subjects. You ponder on it, study it, confess it and pray it. And it gets deeply into your heart. Therefore you start to believe that what this Word says is 100% truth and that whatever God has promised He will also do.
The next step is to pray according to this Word without the shadow of the doubt. You believe that you have it when you pray for it because who doubts will not receive anything from God.
(Jas 1:6-8) “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. “
Above verse even says that person with doubts is unstable in all his ways! There is no way out of it – you must believe without a shadow of the doubt. Although there are few situations when we are able to get something even if we don not have faith. Firstly when we pray the prayer of agreement (when one or two of you agrees their requests...) with someone whose faith in this matter is very strong – you will have it by the faith of this person. Similarly when someone intercedes for you and is full of faith in this matter. For example if you are sick and someone with a gift of healing prays for you can get healed. There is one more very important thing - the gift of faith.
(1Co12.9)”To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; “
It is a gift a little forgotten by us but not by God. I think that every person has in her life the situation when she feels sudden flow of faith in some matter. And after the prayer it simply happened! I remember many such situations from my life. But according to God’s will the main way to receive things is through faith built on His Word.
(Rom 10:9-10) “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. “
Above verse is known for its meaning in the subject of salvation but it also shows as a way how word works through our heart and through confessing it.
Confessing God’s Word is extremely important but by itself it does not bring any result. And it does not work in a way that you say “I’m healed” 100(or 1000) times and it happens. To have results your words have to be powerful (the faith has to stand behind them). It happens when the Word you confess is also in your heart. For that is how the faith works - from inside to outside. However do not stop confessing when your words do not produce anything.
Confessing helps building your faith, helps the Word to get deeper into your heart. Maybe you have been confessing some scriptures for many months but you can not see any results of it and you think it has no sense. But the day will come when your mug will be full of faith and just one more word will make it overflow and “suddenly” you will get healed. The word “suddenly” is in quotation-marks because we have to remember of all the work you have done to be healed.
And in general with all is the same. Why? Because our minds have to be transformed in the way that we can believe. Our old nature has to be replaced by the new one. We do it by filling ourselves with the Word of God. It’s the Word which does this wonderful change and releases faith in us! And when your mind is changed in some matter (area) your every word about it will be full of faith and will always bring results. Every time! And then you will have what you say.
(Mar 11:23) “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. “
Good luck in your journey of faith.
